Psychodynamic psychotherapy (PDPT) focuses on the root of psychological suffering through self-examination and self-reflection. Through exploring your history, current experiences, and relationships with others and with your therapist, you will better understand your problematic relationship patterns and emotional blind spots. The goal is not just symptom relief but also long lasting change and fulfillment.
PDPT is a long term treatment with a minimum frequency of weekly meetings. PDPT is an investment and there is nothing better to invest in than yourself.
Drs. Gao and Thomas both offer EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and integrate it, as appropriate, into their practices.
Complete the consultation request for new patients. We will reach out to you regarding your consultation request within 5 business days.
The consultation period is the time where we determine whether our approach and style is a good fit for your treatment. This can take up to our first four meetings. The consultation period ranges 1 to 4 sessions.
In the event that we do not feel that Reverie is a good fit for your treatment, we will provide you with appropriate referrals. We will not prescribe medications until we decide to continue work beyond the consultation period.
Appointments are either weekly or bi-weekly for patients who are receiving therapy, with or without medication management. For patients receiving medication management only, appointment frequency ranges between weeks and months.
